U.S. Marshals Arrest Polish Fintech CEO Marcin Pioro Over $30M Fraud Allegations

Poland is seeking the extradition of fintech CEO Marcin Pioro after U.S. Marshals arrested him in Missouri over fraud and money laundering allegations linked to reported customer losses exceeding $30 million.

The arrest of the chief executive of Cinkciarz.pl and its international brand Conotoxia marks a significant development in an investigation that Polish prosecutors say involves more than 5,000 customers.

Pioro was taken into custody on May 19 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he was participating in a military training exercise. According to the U.S. Marshals Service, he was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice and was wanted by Polish authorities in connection with allegations of large-scale fraud and money laundering.

Polish prosecutors have said their investigation involves more than 5,000 customers and losses estimated at approximately 125 million Polish zloty. Subsequent reporting has suggested the figure could exceed 150 million zloty. Poland has submitted an extradition request to the United States seeking Pioro’s return to face the allegations.

The arrest was carried out by the U.S. Marshals Service in coordination with Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Missouri and other domestic and international law enforcement agencies. Authorities said the operation was completed without incident.

Pioro appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge David P. Rush in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri on May 20 and was ordered detained pending further proceedings. Poland is seeking his extradition through the U.S. courts.
