Rare Dr. Seuss prints stolen from Redlands children’s dentistry – Press Enterprise

Redlands police are hoping for the public’s help in identifying a burglar who stole two valuable, limited-edition Dr. Seuss prints from a children’s dentistry, a theft that left detectives with few clues.

Someone smashed a glass front door on the morning of Jan. 7 at Pediatric Dentistry of Redlands on Ford Street and took the prints that were displayed in a hallway and a back office, city spokesman Carl Baker said Tuesday, Jan. 16.

The prints were Green Eggs and Ham, valued at $15,000, and Stars Upon Thars, worth $3,000, Baker said.

“There is surveillance (video) that was reviewed by the officer showing a hooded and unidentifiable male committing the crime. Leads are limited currently and we, of course, encourage anyone with information to contact Redlands police,” Baker said.

The burglary victim, dentist Cameron E. Fuller, declined to discuss the crime, an employee said.

The prints are not unique. They are sold through galleries with varying levels of scarcity, according to the website The Art of Dr. Seuss.

“Over its 20-year history, many of the works from The Art of Dr. Seuss Collection have become extremely rare or have sold out entirely,” the website says.

Theodor Seuss Geisel wrote and illustrated more than 60 children’s books. He died in 1991 at age 87.
