Now it’s won a grant to help the facility keep hosting riders and racing.
The raceway is celebrating a $50,000 award it received from the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative, a news release states.
“For generations, it has provided a competitive, family-friendly, and accessible place for riders to practice, race, build community, and share their love for the sport of motocross,” the release said of the venue. “The grant provides Perris Raceway with critical funds to support facility and maintenance projects to improve safety and security for riders and staff.”
The dollars also will allow the track to add new fencing, signs and make other repairs.
The Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative offers grants to riding clubs, land managers and groups. The 18-year program has distributed $8 million in grants to more than 570 projects across the nation “to help ensure access to public land for motorized and outdoor recreation,” the release states.
