Motorcyclist killed, car driver arrested in Rialto crash – Press Enterprise

A motorcyclist was killed and the driver of a car was arrested after a collision in Rialto on Saturday, Nov. 11, authorities said.

Rialto police were called to the 1400 block of West Foothill Boulevard, near the Renaissance Center shopping mall, just past 12:15 p.m. and found a motorcyclist suffering from life-threatening injuries, and the driver of a Nissan Maxima uninjured, police said.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, police said.

Investigators learned that the motorcyclist was traveling westbound in the left lane on Foothill Boulevard approaching a green light when the driver of the Maxima, identified as 36-year-old Haloman Tellez-Zelaya of Fontana, attempted to make a U-turn from eastbound Foothill Boulevard in front of the motorcyclist, causing the rider to crash into the car, police said.

Tellez-Zelaya did not have a driver’s license and investigators learned he had been issued a citation a week prior, police said. He was not believed to be driving under the influence at the time of the crash.

Tellez-Zelaya was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and was booked into jail on $500,000 bail, police said.

The motorcyclist was not immediately identified by police pending notification of relatives. Further information about the motorcyclist was not released.
