Goldberg Segalla Recognized for its Commitment to Diversity

Goldberg Segalla has been recognized for its unyielding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, this time by the national legal publication Law360. 

In highlighting our firm’s elevation this year of 22 attorneys to partner, and five others to special counsel, Law360 placed specific focus on the fact that more than half of the promotions were that of women, while 23 percent of those elevated are from racially diverse backgrounds.

“Goldberg Segalla is determined to make a difference in increasing diversity in the legal

community,” Joseph M. Hanna, the firm’s hiring partner and the founder and chair of Goldberg Segalla’s Diversity Task Force, told Law360.

Goldberg Segalla has long been considered a trailblazer in the legal industry when it comes to expanding opportunities for those from underrepresented populations, ensuring their voices are heard at the highest level of the decision-making process.

Hanna — who chairs the firm’s Retail and Hospitality and Sports and Entertainment Law practice groups, and is a member of its management committee — told the publication that the key to Goldberg Segalla’s DEI work is its engagement with law schools to create mentoring opportunities, as well as its work in leadership roles with industry organizations committed to diversity, and hiring and elevating diverse talent.

Another integral component is the work of Goldberg Segalla’s Women’s Initiative, which provides a network of support and mentorship for young female attorneys at the firm as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of the profession.

“We come together to support each other, inspire, mentor, welcome, and celebrate our successes through regular programming, guest speakers, trainings, one-on-ones, in-person and virtual networking events,” Caroline J. Berdzik, chair of the Women’s Initiative and the firm’s Employment and Labor, Health Care, and Long-Term Care practice groups, told Law360.

“Some of the most rewarding work of my career has been collaborating with the amazing women attorneys I have come to know and appreciate so well through the firm’s Women’s Initiative.”

The newly promoted partners and special counsel at Goldberg Segalla represent seven practice areas, in states coast-to-coast, from California to New York.
