Beaumont man accused of murder after man shot to death in San Bernardino – Press Enterprise

A 38-year-old Beaumont man was arrested on suspicion of murder early Monday, Jan. 12, after, for reasons still under investigation, he shot and killed a man, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said.

Someone reported seeing a body in the 19000 block of Kendall Drive, a few blocks from Cal State San Bernardino in the northern part of San Bernardino, around 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, a sheriff’s news release said. Deputies found the man dead after he apparently suffered a gunshot wound.

Investigators interviewed witnesses and identified Omar Antonio Mejia Ceron as a suspect and arrested him about 1 a.m. Monday at the sheriff’s headquarters in San Bernardino, according to the county jail log. He was being held at the Central Jail without bail.

Details on what prompted the shooting were not available Monday, said Jenny Smith, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.

The identity of the victim had not been announced as of Monday night.
