10 concerts to dress up for this haunting season – Orange County Register
As sweater weather, pumpkin spice and jack-‘o-lanterns make their grand return, it’s time to start planning for some Halloween fun.
While Southern California theme parks and local independent haunts have kicked off their annual reign of terror, numerous concerts and festivals have also gone on sale with various artists ready to provide an evening of music with a Halloween twist.
For most of these events, fans can dress up in costumes and immerse themselves in the spirit of the season.
Here are some of the themed concerts hitting the area the week before and week of Halloween, which falls on a Tuesday this year. Check official websites for more details and costume rules.
Rob Zombie & Alice Cooper
When: 7 p.m. Oct. 25
Where: Yaamava Theater, 777 San Manuel Blvd., Highland

Shock rock and horror icons Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper will bring their Halloween Hootenanny to Highland for this special 21-and-older only event that’s sure to feature Zombie’s hits “Living Dead Girl” and “Superbeast” and Cooper’s offerings: “Feed My Frankenstein,” “No More Mr. Nice Guy” and “Eighteen.”
Dang! Halloween
When: 9:30 p.m. Oct. 27
Where: The Virgil, 4519 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles

The soulful electronic music dance party is hosting a special Halloween event that will pay tribute to the sounds of Anderson.Paak, Disclosure, Toro Y Moi, Channel Tres, Kaytranada, Goldlink, SG Lewis, Tyler, The Creator and more. Expect to dress up in costumes, too.
Escape Halloween
When: 4 p.m.-2 a.m. Oct. 27-28
Where: NOS Events Center, 689 S. E Street, San Bernardino

Zedd, Above & Beyond, Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, DJ Snake, Kaskade, Macky Gee, Kaivon, Three 6 Mafia, Tchami and more will perform during Insomniac Events’ two-day Escape Halloween event featuring multiple themed haunted stages, horror performers and glow-in-the-dark art installations. Halloween costumes are encouraged every year.
Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” in Concert
When: 5 p.m. Oct. 27-29
Where: Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Ave., Los Angeles

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” with the live-to-film concert starring composer Danny Elfman, who will reprise his singing role as Jack Skellington. Elfman will be joined by a full orchestra and choir led by conductor John Mauceri as the film screens. Fans can also trick-or-treat on site, pose for photos with Halloween Town photo ops and there’s a costume contest.
Día De Los Muertos/Noche De Los Muertos
Known for hosting California’s largest Day of The Dead festivities, Hollywood Forever Cemetery will bring back its Día De Los Muertos daytime event to celebrate one of Mexico’s most beloved holidays. This year, the event will include multiple stages with performances by DannyLux, Irene Diaz, Grupo Folklorico Cielito Lindo, Inspiraciones De Danza Mexicana and more. There will also be Aztec ritual dancers, altars, food and more. Hollywood Forever Cemetery will also be hosting an evening celebration dubbed Noche De Los Muertos.

West Coast rap legends Cypress Hill are bringing back their annual Halloween Haunted Hill show with support from Trash Talk and Onyx. Listen for the hits “I Wanna Get High,” “Insane in the Brain,” “Legalize It” and more.
Oingo Boingo Former Members Halloween Concert
When: Doors open at noon on Oct. 29
Where: Seaside Lagoon, 200 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach

Fans can boogie with former Oingo Boingo members Johnny “Vatos” Hernandez, Steve Bartek, Sam “Sluggo” Phipps, Carl Graves and John Avila as they ring in Halloween with songs like “Weird Science,” “Only a Lad” and “Dead Man’s Party.” DJ Richard Blade, The English Beat and Dramarama will open the show. Costumes are encouraged.
Boygenius
When: 7 p.m. Oct. 31

The indie-rock trio is pit-stopping for a special spooky Halloween show in Los Angeles. The event will have support from St. Louis hyper-pop duo 100 Gecs and Los Angeles-bred rock group Sloppy Jane.
OhGeesy

Where: The Catwalk Club, 698 Harlem Place, Los Angeles

OhGeesy, a member of rap group Shoreline Mafia, is adding some seasonal spirit into the mix for his Oh Geesy Halloween Night show. There will be three rooms of music playing hip-hop, reggaeton, EDM, Latin hits and there will be a special set from OhGeesy, too. Costumes are encouraged.
The Phantom of the Opera at Walt Disney Concert Hall
When: 8 p.m. Oct. 31
Where: Walt Disney Concert Hall, 111 S. Grand Ave., Los Angeles

The annual Halloween haunt at Walt Disney Concert Hall is back, and this year, the hall will feature the classic 1925 film “Phantom of the Opera,” which stars Lon Chaney as the Phantom and Mary Philbin as Christine Daaé. Although it’s a silent film, the night will be accompanied by a live soundtrack performed by organist Clark Wilson for a spooky effect.
