Riverside County investigators launch homicide probe after man is found fatally injured in Nuevo – Press Enterprise

NUEVO – Investigators were working Wednesday to identify a possible suspect or suspects behind a deadly assault on a man in Nuevo.

The fatality occurred Sunday morning in the area of Foothill Avenue and Nuevo Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The area is east of the 215 Freeway and south of Ramona Expressway.

The agency said patrol deputies were called to the location around noon to investigate reports of a body.

“Responding deputies checked and located the deceased male,” the sheriff’s department said. “It was discovered the decedent had traumatic injuries, and the incident was determined to be a homicide.”

No other details were disclosed, including the victim’s identity, which was being withheld Wednesday due to challenges finding his next of kin for notification.

No arrests have been made. It was unclear whether authorities had identified persons of interest.
