El Toro football coach Randall Reynoso resigns after four seasons – Orange County Register

El Toro football coach Randall Reynoso has resigned after four seasons, athletic director Armando Rivas said Thursday.

The Chargers posted their second consecutive 2-8 finish this past season. They went 0-3 in the Sea View League for the second straight campaign.

Reynoso’s tenure started during the pandemic-shortened 2021 spring season. El Toro finished 3-2, including a win against district rival Trabuco Hills.

In the fall of 2021, the Chargers went 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the Sea View to earn a share of the league title. They fell to Summit 22-21 in overtime in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 5 playoffs.

Reynoso finished with a record of 15-21.

He arrived at El Toro after a two-year stint as Crean Lutheran’s coach.

The Chargers project to be placed in Orange County’s sixth-strongest league next season as the county shifts to a power-ratings system that determines league placement. The league projects to include Troy, Irvine, Sonora, Canyon and Santa Ana.
